The Washington Wizards are an NBA basketball team hailing from Washington, D.C.

Their rise to become the Wizards began with a small team out of Chicago, called the Packers in 1961. From there they were formed into the Chicago Zephyrs. In 1973 the team was moved to Maryland and became the Capital Bullets, later changed to the Washington Bullets the very next season. The Bullets became the Wizards in 1995.

The Washington Wizards currently play in the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. The venue is located in the heart of Chinatown.

The official mascot of the Washington Wizards is a colorful character named G-Wiz.
