First impressions matter more than ever, and for many the first impression they give is actually their website, which is why good web site design is so important.

Good web design has two main parts. The first and most important is the visual appearance of the site. It should use colors and styles that work well together and match the overall theme of the site. The second part of the design is one that is easily overlooked, and that is the usability of the design. If it is not easy to find what you are looking for then you will be left with a bad first impression.

One way to get a good design for your site is to use a theme that has already been created for a package like Wordpress. One of the more popular themes is the Genesis Theme. It provides a lot of the usability items you need as standard, and allows the visual design to be taken care of using the many sub-theme plug-ins. To fine tune the way your site works there are built-in options to control navigation, thumbnails, SEO, and Layout.

So if first impressions are important to you, make sure you have an attractive website which uses great web design.
