Automated Infrastructure Podcast on IT Conversations

    http://radar.oreilly.com/ archives/ 2008/ 05/ automated-infrastructure-podcast.h…

Adam Jacob and I did an IT Conversations podcast with Phil Windley last week, which I really enjoyed. We started with a summary of Adam's excellent Web2.0 Expo session, covered the phases of startup growth using virtual infrastructures like EC2 and 3tera, and discussed how Puppet shifts us to "Infrastructure as Code".

    Twittering more ways

    http://ekive.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ twittering-more-ways.html

This was originally posted in April as "Twitter: A Twit Twit here and a Tweet Tweet there..." but has been repeatedly updated. It seemed like a good time to re-issue it. At some point I need to re-structure the information but for now a simple unordered list will have to do.

    Utah Startup Series: Bungee Labs

    http://staynalive.com/ articles/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ utah-startup-series-bungee-labs/

(Sorry it’s been awhile since my last blog - it took me several days to figure out how to get my Flip video imported and exported to and from iMovie. To make a long story short, if you want to export from iMovie and have both picture and sound, you must import your source as something other than MP4 or AVI.) This is the first article in my “Utah Startup Series“.

    Bring Out Your Dead

    http://www.revenews.com/ angeldjambazov/ bring-out-your-dead/

I expect something tasteful in a place of mourning and remembrance. Maybe I am old-fashioned but ads for LavaLife, who has never been the most subtle advertiser in the dating industry, on a site meant to be a memorial for loved ones is not what I expect to see.

SanFran MusicTech Summit 2: Guestlist Wish, Artist Activism, and Label Survival

    http://evolvingmusic.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 12/ sanfran-musictech-summit-2-gue…

Brian Zisk has done it again. After the wildly successful SanFran MusicTech Summit last February at Hotel Kabuki, he rallied the troops for round two of what I hope will be a regular event going forward. The first Summit, which I reviewed here, set the bar high.

Community Building: Good, Bad and Ugly - The Video

    http://fastwonderblog.com/ 2008/ 05/ 09/ community-building-good-bad-and-ugly-th…

I finally found a video of at least part of our Web 2.0 Expo session about Community Building: Good, Bad and Ugly. A big thank you to Jim Goings for uploading it. It looks like they caught the first 30 minutes of the session on video.

Photo: Duncan Davidson I wanted to capture my thoughts intermixed with quotes from Mitchell Baker, Chairman, Mozilla Foundation at the recent Web 2.0 Expo keynote entitled Opening the Mobile Web, it was truly a great concept and conversation and eye opening for me to see there is real commitment to

    Heading to SocialDevCampEast

    http://ekive.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ heading-to-socialdevcampeast.html

There is a great event on this weekend in Baltmore. SocialDevCampEast is meeting there at the Uiversity of Baltimore. This is the Unconference for Thought Leaders of the future social web. I am excited about participating because I see so many opportunities to apply social technologies to transform health care.

05/08/2008, originally uploaded by Bryan Thatcher. Yes it has that “new car smell” The sales guy spent an hour explaining the onboard computer features, I just kept telling him yeah yeah yeah I got it, you don’t need to explain this to me, shocked, replied “nobody gets this the first time” informed
