A wedding dress is a dress or gown worn by the bride during her wedding ceremony. The style and color of the dress is chosen by the bride in accordance with the type of ceremony that she has. Traditionally, in North America, a wedding dress is white or ivory but wedding dresses can often be made in a variety of colors if the bride wants to deviate from tradition.

Occasionally the dress will be chosen by other members of the ceremony, depending on the religious and/or cultural background of the bride or groom.

In many cultures it is customary that a bride wear more than one wedding dress throughout the ceremony. When this is the case, the wedding dresses will often differ in formality and color.
