Last Friday we were gifted with a giant CSA bounty of beautiful vegetable from a local Twitterista who was going out of town for the weekend so I have plenty of raw (heh) ingredients for our menu this week. The bag included heads of lettuce as big as my head, huge, plum-sized radishes and the most glorious bunch of inky purple basil I've ever seen.

Just getting this in under the wire... I didn't make it to the farmer's market on Sunday and we haven't done the rest of the grocery shopping either. I'm feeling a little thrown for a loop. There's a whole week wide open ahead of me and aack! What to cook? I did take stock of some of the things in my freezer and I've got the raw ingredients for several meals.

Dubai attracts a more rich and famous crowd than rural France. But, unlike some countries, (which will remain nameless) Dubai expects the rich and famous to behave. And I mean Behave! Saw the movie King Corn over the weekend. Have you seen it? I knew that corn syrup was bad and that corn was bad for cows, but this just puts it all into perspective. We probably have fast food a couple of times a month but I'm rethinking even that. It's also interesting to see the movie now that gas and food prices are skyrocketing.

We finally signed the contract on our house... So, for the curious (you know who you are) have a look. I have to admit, while going through the photos I was having a serious attack of "What the hell have we done?" Then I found this close-up I took of the hardware on the windows and I remembered.
