It looks like $810 billion ($700 billion plus $110 billion in tax breaks and earmarks) doesn’t go as far as it once did: Stocks slid more than 6 percent on Monday, with the Dow diving to its lowest level in almost five years, on fears the global economy was hurtling into recession despite government efforts to contain the fast-spreading financial crisis.

I’m not going to waste time with a preface. Let’s just get right into why this is a massively bad decision. No oversight. The Bush administration is asking Congress to hand it a blank check for $700 billion without any controls or strings attached.
