Scott Young was drafted eleventh overall by the Hartford Whalers in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft behind players Jimmy Carson, Zarley Zalapski, and Jocelyn Lemieux who would also eventually spend time with the Whalers.

I've had the itch for some hockey, lately. Namely, Whalers hockey. I can't wait to get back into the Compuware Arena and watch the Plymouth Whalers knock around Windsor, Sarnia, London, or dare I say, Mississauga. I miss watching hockey, and even though it was great, watching the the Stanley Cup finals on DVR just won't cut it.

For some reason I’ve always found it more interesting to see why things like businesses fail than to read about success stories.  It’s not even that I take any glee in their failure, so maybe it’s an underdog thing?  Anyway, in the first entry of yet another series I’ll likely abandon at some point,

Whalers’ first baseman Evan Laude’s bat is on fire. And the timing couldn’t be better as the team is making a push for the post season. “He’s coming up big,” said Whalers’ manager Julio Vega on Wednesday. In the second game of Saturday’s double-header against the New Jersey Pilots, Laude stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning with score tied.

USA Hockey has announced the roster for the 2008 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka an Under 18 tournament that's held in Breclav, Czech Republic, and Piestany, Slovakia. It takes place from August 12th to August 16th. This team was selected from the Select 17's that were held last week in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

It has been a big week for the Cumpuware organization of the Mid West Elite Hockey League. They had defenseman Austin Levi sign with the Plymouth Whalers and you can add Alex Aleardi to that list. The 5'9 165lbs center has signed with the Kitchener Rangers who won the OHL Championship.
