Today you can buy (if you can find it) the iPhone 3G from AT&T, the hottest thing to hit the market since sliced bread.  You may recall one of our own being one of those trendy types who is probably waiting in line as we speak. According to a poll in that same thread, 25% of you will be getting the iPhone 3G.

At 8AM tomorrow, the Apple iPhone be unveiled at your nearby Apple or AT&T retail store. In October, 2007,  I read that Apple did not allow gift cards or even cash for these purchases. The reason for the strict rules was to keep a paper trail on every single iPhone being sold.

When the iPhone 3G hits July 11th, it will be available at both AT&T and Apple stores. So beyond a little extra pretentiousness at the Apple stores, is there anything different between them? What if you need to start a new plan? What if you need to transfer a number? Can Apple handle the complicated stuff?
