    ReMIX UK – 18 SEPT

    http://timheuer.com/ blog/ archive/ 2008/ 08/ 11/ remix-uk-in-september.aspx

Well, I wish I was going to this event: ReMIX UK!  For one, it would be starting the day of my birthday and would be a great birthday treat!  Secondly, I would be able to meet up with my fellow escamoles chaps and maybe take in some local cuisine instead.

Ginger August 5, 2008 – 8:09 am I spent an absolutely beautiful day shooting on Whidbey Island this weekend. I rarely get the chance to visit the islands so I gladly accepted the invitation. As I drove up the driveway, 4 deer crossed in front of my car and a rabbit followed along after them.

I’ll tell you what you can do with your CIRCLE OF LIFE

    http://www.absolutelybananas.com/ 2008/ 07/ what-do-you-do-if-you-find-a-baby-se…

This is Part II in the baby seal saga.  Read Part I here. The thing about baby seals is that they are small.  And helpless.  And before very long, even though the baby seal is really cute and all, you start to think that maybe the fact that it’s all alone and without any sign of its mother on your beach isn’t such a good thing at all.

The USS Whidbey Island moored in the outer harbor. Look at the size of the ship tied up alongside it. It is dwarfed by the size of the Navy ship. Navy Ship Moored Outside Gloucester 4:46AM 6/27/08, originally uploaded by captjoe06. USSWHIDBEYISLAND, originally uploaded by captjoe06.

    Tools for Agility

    http://www.michaelazocar.com/ blog/ ?p=502

Kent Beck (a signer of the Agile Manifesto) has written a white paper on the relationship between agile and tools.  It is an interesting read and may make some of you “true believers” think again about only using 3×5 note cards.

Some of you may remember George C. Scott as Patton, exulting after a victory, "Rommel... you magnificent bastard, *I read your book*!" Knowing your enemy is half the battle. That's why I'm being so hard on indiscreet blogger participants like CDR Junge, the skipper of the USS Whidbey Island (LSD-41) (See posts and his comments here here here and here).

CDR Paul Junge's Contribution To Maritime Strategy:

Why, how could I call for the relief of this modern-day reincarnation of Fleet Admiral Halsey! "What we need is a standard of one computer per officer, one per every three or four chief petty officers, and one for each division and departmental office, linked by a low-cost, upgradeable local area
