A whiteboard is much like a chalkboard (blackboard), but hey, this is the 21st century now, and things are looking up. You have more choices. This is not about boring old chalk and eraser anymore. Maybe because of all the complaining that the chalkboard manufacturers got through the years of students screeching their fingernails down the face of the chalkboard (you cringed, did you not?), they decided to make a different material that could not create such obnoxious sound effects.

White was the perfect choice. Who wants black, gray, brown, or green? Whiteboards can draw your attention like nothing else can, and the various colors of dry-erase markers contrast so well against the shiny, white background.

A word of caution: do not sit on the front row of a classroom with a whiteboard in it. A few rows back will do just fine. It is not the fault of the whiteboard. The whiteboard may not appreciate the stench of the dry-erase markers any more than you do. Wait, this is the 21st century, and we have more choices... Wake up dry-erase marker manufacturers!
