No, I’m not talking about hillbillies this time. I am talking about some local plant-life. This ramp patch is on the clear cut mountain that has been prepped for mining. One thing I noticed about this patch right away. They are full grown plants and about three inches smaller than plants found in their normal environment.

I was in the mountains about all day yesterday hiking. On my way out of the mountains I topped over this little knoll and the entire swag before me was basically just a big ramp patch. All of the green in this photo is ramps (wild leek). Even for the novice hunter this patch would be hard to miss.

If the warm rains and the Easter Lillies were not an indication of spring, then the announcement of local ramp (wild leek) dinners would be. Delbert Freewill Baptist Church will be having their Annual Ramp Dinner the 19th day of April 2008 at Drews Creek of Naoma. The dinner will be from noon to 7pm.
