There is no doubt that social media has gained a foothold in our personal and business lives. Yet despite the fact that many businesses and associations are embracing it’s use and realizing the qualitative and quantitative results/benefits from adopting specific tools for specific purposes, for many the decision and choice are still a crapshoot.

If you haven’t heard of “Will it Blend,” it’s a campaign by Blendtec blenders. There are many, many more things that they blend including golf clubs, lighters, glow sticks, anything you can think of –literally. I like the campaign because it is a subtle pitch for their blenders.

Yesterday Journalist Daisy Whitney asked her Twitter followers, "What do you think is the best example of a business, brand or marketer that used web video to great success to grow the business?" I replied, "Will It Blend." Will It Blend? is the best example of how a small company without an ad agency can have an impact on brand awareness and on their bottom line.

When YouTube user lamedust needed a haircut, he took to the streets, implementing a wiki-style approach to grooming by offering passing strangers a shot with his scissors. The results? Judge for yourself… And how do you top blending random objects? By putting them in a microwave and filming the results.
