win7

The term win7 is generally attributed to Microsoft's latest operating system Windows 7 which was released in October 2009.

Windows 7 has received a very positive perception since its release with computer magazines and Internet sites recommending to switch to the new operating system without waiting for the first service pack release (which is usually the recommended way of migrating to a new OS).

Windows 7 is the fastest selling operating system with more than 90 million copies sold in the first five months since its introduction.

This popularity can be attributed to the public perception, performance and stability of the operating system but also to the bad public perception of Windows Vista, the predecessor of Windows 7.
