Like many geeks, I do not run an anti-virus program.  Keep your system up to date, keep your ports locked down, and stay away from the dark corners of the Internet, and avoiding viruses is really just a matter of practicing safe computing practices.  Your behavior is the best anti-virus.  Unfortunately, my wife is not a geek.

Have you seen this one?  This is one that Microsoft doesn’t seem to be able to fix, though it’s been a reported issue for over a year.  I thought the latest upgrade might fix it…nope. Basically, you turn on Automatic Updates but OneCare does not remember it.  Once you reboot the computer, OneCare goes “Red” again requiring you to Turn On AU again and again.

Windows Live OneCare 2.5 is now available, which is mainly an “under-the-hood” release. That means all the improvements take place behind-the-scenes so you will not notice any major new features or changes to the overall UI.
