According to Microsoft's timeline of releasing a new operating system every few years, Windows 8 is scheduled to be released sometime around 2012 as the successor to Windows 7.

At the time of this writing, specific details have yet to be released for Windows 8.

Microsoft aims for Windows 8 support to start on July 1, 2011. Support for Windows Server 2012 is estimated to start on July 2, 2012.

For the upcoming version of Windows, new features are being worked on, including cluster support, and support for one way replication.
