For some people winter can be a real drag. The days are shorter and the nights are longer, and not being able to absorb the Vitamin D from the rays of the sun can cause them to be in somewhat of a funk. For others though, winter is a Wonderland of skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, sleigh riding and tubing, and all sorts of other wonderful outdoor activities.

In the winter some animals hibernate. The human animal has the tendency to pack on the weight during the winter because the outdoor temperatures are less hospitable in their opinion to be out and doing, after which in the spring they sometimes do a cleansing diet.


Winter is a special time of year, as it rings in the much-anticipated holidays, such as Christmas, Hanukkah, Diwali, New Years, Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, etc. Lot's of celebration and good cheer come with these festive holidays that are recognized across the broad spectrum of religions and peoples.

In winter there are lots of sales and specials, especially the day after Christmas, on everything from a sofa mattress to TVs to clothes and whatever else you can imagine as retailers try to move their inventory for the next coming year.
