Vintage Goodness
http://peacefulknitter.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 07/ 31/ vintage-goodness/Last week I was on a vintage button-buying spree on Etsy, looking for interesting things to spruce up my crafting. I did a search for “vintage buttons” and many, many things turned up. It’s a bit overwhelming to look through all the results, but when I filtered through I ended up finding two things that really caught my eye.

Embarrassed to be a Texan?
http://expattexan.com/ 2008/ 07/ 27/ embarrassed-to-be-a-texan/Not often. But occasionally, yes. I used to hang out on the AOL astronomy boards, way back when AOL was just starting out. We would be discussing supernovae, comet epherimides, whatever - and then, like clockwork, some looney “young Earther” would show up and hijack the thread to talk about the

The things we need to hear
http://icanbuyhappiness.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 07/ 27/ the-things-we-need-to-hear/…Driving to a place where the streets have no names, Houses have no numbers, Just watching the world wind along. Kisses aren’t promises, They’re traded for momentary trust As he grasps her hand “I’m safe with you?” she questions “Of course you are” he says blankly There is no safety net for a betrayal of sorts.

The Catcher in the Rye or: How I Will Always be a Little in Love with Holden Caulfield.
http://atypicalsnowman.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 07/ 23/ the-catcher-in-the-rye-or-ho…“If you had a million years to do it in, you couldn’t rub out even half the “Fuck you” signs in the world. It’s impossible.” I first read the Catcher in the Rye when I was thirteen. I think it was the first non-Judy Blume or E.B. White type book I had ever read.

http://wiseling.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 07/ every-day-i-wear-something-of-yours.html
Every day I wear something of yours. Something old, forgotten, unimportant. Things that you outgrew, or perhaps, replaced. Frayed and well-loved, relegated to a dusty corner. I always wonder if you will come back for the things you left behind. If you'll come back for me.

Tony! You married the wrong woman!
http://ngyilian.com/ 2008/ 07/ 23/ tony-you-married-the-wrong-woman/That should be me next to Tony instead… Sue, photoshop my pic to replace Carina’s can?? Aw, look at that face. He’s all of 46 but still so boyish and youthful. Carina’s one lucky woman to have Tony (and that 12-carat Cartier engagement ring).

Today's New Band - Held By Hands
http://www.anewbandaday.com/ 2008/ 07/ todays-new-band-held-by-hands.htmlMuch like a good joke, the outcomes of life's intricacies depend on great, erm, you know.... timing. We've all thought of the right thing to do or say just 10 minutes later than would have been useful - the witty put-down to the brainless idiot who mocked you in a bar, or the slowly dawning realisation that maybe saying 'yes' to an asymmetrical mullet may not have been the right course of action.
