Beta 2 of WordPress 2.6.1 is out. The team is approaching 60 bugs fixed for the official 2.6.1 release. You can the new fixes since beta 1 here. Grab WP 2.6.1-b2 here.

WordPress 2.6.1 Beta 1 is out. You might want to grab it now, or wait until an official release arrives, which Ryan Boren says will arrive around the time of this year’s WordCamp San Francisco. Here’s another tip from him: With 2.6.1, we’re continuing our trend of releasing a dot one release about a month after dot zero.

PodPress 8.8 (the latest version as of this writing) is incompatible with WordPress 2.6. The fix is to add this line to wp-config.php - define ('WP_POST_REVISIONS', 0); An alternate fix idea is available here. Listen to the latest podcast at Adventures In Parenting!

I usually wait a month or two before upgrading my blogs to the new version of Wordpress, but I kinda hook with the cool Turbo function, and so upgraded some of mine to Wordpress 2.6. And that was a big mistake! Apparently, Wordpress 2.6 comes with a very annoying bug — it can make your whole categories and tags AWOL.

Here is one for the strange WPMu bugs division. I had tested the upgrade to WPMu 2.6 for UMW Blogs pretty thoroughly, but there was one small thing I missed. Which manifested itself as an error message, shown below, every time I tried to upload an image or document.

I am using WordPress 2.5.1 and thinking it is about time to upgrade to WordPress 2.6; but before I do that, I want to find out what features WordPress 2.6 has provided and what improvements it’s been made.

A couple of days ago I upgraded to Wordpress v2.6. After the upgrade I opened the blog, and added a new post. Both of those actions worked properly. After the upgrade I noticed a major decrease in comment and trackback spam. But today I discovered the real reason why comments AND page views were close to zero.

W.P. 2.6 Permalink Bug Some of my readers have noticed alot of broken links on my blog latley. I recently upgraded to WordPress 2.6 on my IIS server and it seems that there was a known bug that was not fixed by the WordPress team before the final version of WordPress 2.6 was rolled out.

I am one of the bloggers who excitedly upgraded to Wordpress 2.6  a day after its release. But to my disappointment, I encountered this 404 - Not Found error upon accessing my individual posts. This made me stay to the older version until today.

Thanks to James Lewin for his post “Plug-In Fixes PodPress Problem With WordPress 2.6″ which alerted me to “The No Revisions WordPress Plugin.” I can personally confirm that this plug-in DOES fix PodPress functionality in Wordpress 2.6.
