    Weaving New Wings

    http://www.turkishhandmade.net/ writing-and-speaking-articles/ weaving-new-wings

Someone once told me you don’t know if you can fly until you jump off of the cliff and try. That bit of advice brings to mind two images. One is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. They were surrounded on the edge of a cliff, with a raging river far below. They had to jump into the river to save themselves.

Women as Workaholics - The Admirable Addiction

    http://empowher.com/ share/ mental-health/ women-workaholics-the-admirable-addic…

If we heard that someone was a workaholic 30 years ago (if we even used that term back then) I bet most of us would assume the culprit was male. I bet all of us would. But women as workaholics is a reality that is rapidly growing in numbers.

A friend, one who loves me enough to tell me the whole truth, asked me if I might be a workaholic. I don’t know… or maybe I do. According to the Workaholics Anonymous website, the only requirement for membership is the desire to stop working compulsively.

    Time Off

    http://swerve.lifechurch.tv/ 2008/ 06/ 16/ time-off/

Time Off Many pastors and church staff members don’t take much time off from the church. There are many reasons: The pastor might not have a staff, so he believes he can’t be away from church. The pastor is worried a guest speaker won’t do a good job. The staff member feels guilty when they take off.

    Working for the Weekend

    http://johnvoelzblog.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 06/ working-for-weekend.html

We have talked a lot as a staff lately about workaholism, our health, our drive, the quest for perfection, etc. and the need to keep those things in check. I’ve always been driven. I pray that I will continue to be driven for the sake of the kingdom.

There's Always Work To Be Done, And Songs To Be Finished

So tonight among other things I half-watched two sequels: Rambo II and Lethal Weapon Dos. Both feature plot turns where the primary (male) character’s (re-awakening) love interest is killed by the bad guys. I guess that’s how Hollywood rolled in those days.

    A Season of Rest

    http://johnmarkhicks.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 27/ a-season-of-rest/

In several posts over the past month or so, I have indicated that I am experiencing a season of grief. More specifically, I have been working through some past traumas in order to integrate them into my life in a more healthy way. This has been a healing process for me. It is painful but it is also liberating.

Are You Overworked, Or Just Afraid To Delegate? May 20th, 2008 My friend often complains that he feels overworked and underappreciated in his career.  He does have a somewhat stressful-sounding job–at his company, he supervises a team of tech support people who are constantly barraged with emergency
