These are my notes from the keynote speech at the Beau Monde and Hearts through History First Annual Conference for Historical Romance Writers. Jocelyn Kelley (aka Jo Ann Ferguson) noted that we are all searching for the Holy Sale – the one that guarantees our career.

The Beau Monde and Hearts Through History chapters of the RWA are hosting their first annual Historical Romance Writers Conference today, which I am attending. Though the schedule was constructed very late, I am looking forward to the workshops offered.

…with flowers in my hair. Yesterday I arrived in San Francisco and met up with fellow romance bloggers Katiebabs and KristieJ from Ramblings on Romance, Little Alys from For Peaceful Days and Dreamy Nights, Sula from Sula’s Space, and Tracy from Ahhhhh Romance!.

So Doctor what is it? Writers cramp! Can you believe that? It’s (expletive deleted) writers cramp! How the hell can it be writers cramp if I’m not writing? Well it seems that writers cramp is simply the common name for another condition called focal dystonia, you might want to see my ‘What is dartitis?‘ page for further details on this.

The weeks of madness have begun! 1. WRITING Where have I been the last few days? Madly writing. Not blogging. WRITING. Madly. I’ve been at Miro Tea everyday this week and my word count is slowly but surely climbing up to that magic 90-100 thousand number. I’ve reached 76,921. And now I’m stuck.

I just bought my plane tickets!!! I’ll be in San Francisco MONDAY, July 28 at 6 pm, and I fly out SUNDAY, August 3 at 7 pm. This will be my very first romance conference. Last summer I attended the Pacific Northwest Writers Association Conference, which I’m attending again this July even though it has half the workshops offered last year.

Yesterday I got the call that my manuscript is a finalist in the Pacific Northwest Writers Association Literary Contest in the Romance division. I couldn’t believe it. Obviously I’m thrilled! The contest judges the first 28 pages of an unpublished manuscript.
