XBox Live allows players of Microsoft's XBox 360 to play online games in a multi-player environment. The XBox 360 console connects to the Internet via a wireless or Cat5 connection giving it access to XBox Live.

Besides simply connecting to the Internet, one must pay for time on this multi-player online platform, the only gaming console so far to charge money for this experience.

The XBox 360 is the most popular way to connect to XBox Live, however, especially after the Live Anywhere initiative, gamers can connect to XBox Live and play XBox Kinect games, and a whole slew of other multi-player enabled games, via Windows computers, handhelds, mobile phones and of course the new Windows Phones.
