Yahoo Maps, is an online map portal, similar to Google Maps, that offers street maps and driving directions for the United States and Canada, with moderate resolution satellite imagery available world-wide. Yahoo has added many new services over the last year, and as of the winter of 2009 Yahoo is pairing with Twitter to create a news-specific search engine. However, their map service is slightly stagnant at this time. For example, if you're looking for a street map of Belfast, as of the winter of 2009 Yahoo Maps is not the map portal to use.
Yahoo Maps is also an API (application programming interface) that lets you easily embed rich and interactive maps into your web and desktop applications using your choice of platform. It's part of the Yahoo developer network. You can obtain the applications at their website. Flash, Ajax, and Map Image APIs are available.
