The oral contraceptive Yaz has received attention in the media since its approval in 2006. First touted as a near-miracle drug with the ability to relieve symptoms like those associated with PMS, Yaz’s manufacturer Bayer was disciplined by the Food and Drug Administration for misleading advertising to that effect. Yaz, and sister drug Yasmin, soon returned to the spotlight due to dangerous potential side effects including

• Deep Vein Thrombosis


• Hyperkalemia


• Hyperthyroidism


• Gallbladder Disease


• High Blood Pressure


• Liver Tumors


• Breast and Cervical Cancer

As of February 2011, 6,850 complaints had been filed regarding Yaz, Yasmin and their generic equivalents, Gianvi and Ocella. Women all over the world are bringing legal claims against Bayer and the drug industry for allegedly marketing unsafe drugs like Yaz and Yasmin.
