A YouTube video is a video hosted at the popular video hosting website YouTube. The videos hosted at YouTube can either be accessed directly on the site, downloaded to a computer or viewed on another website that has embedded the video on their site.

Standard YouTube videos are streamed as flv videos using Adobe Flash technologies. A beta HTML5 streaming mode has been enabled some time ago to provide users with an alternative mode. Most modern web browsers do not support this mode yet.

The quality of the videos has been recently increased from a standard resolution of 320x240 to a maximum of 1920×1080 (1080p) in recent time.

Not all videos that are hosted at YouTube are offered in high resolutions. The availability depends largely on the video source that is uploaded by a user of the video portal.

You'll find bloggers talking about YouTube videos at sites like Shout Me Loud and Backseat Cuddler.
