So, the year is 2003. Until September, when I’ll start my first good job in Quebec, Canada, I was pretty much depressed and weird… Even if, curiously, this depression did not make me helplessly void but rather creative… I was drawing a lot, I was painting a lot.

Versatility, diversity, fluidity… At least for “versatility” a very kind friend from sunny California tells me I have it… Probably she’s right. I am quite versatile: I can change subjects, techniques and manners quite swiftly.

Just a nude in burnt omber, drawn recently… a 10 minutes sketch which I will, maybe, re-work into a painting… The model, though not very gracious (a common, sullen face and quite large) had a beautiful skin quality, nice, very fine grain, very pale, making the light almost like a haze around her.

2003 was a transition period. Until September (when I got my first good job) it was a hard and quite depressing (and depressed) time… I was on the brinck of madness and only a new streak of good luck (my job as a art teacher) stopped it… I could, maybe, have been a bank robber [...]
