As if the anticipation for the latest Android version wasn't already bad enough, TechCrunch is reporting that the Android 2.2, also known as Froyo and Eclair, will include USB tethering which allows sharing your data connection, as well as the ability to turn your phone into a mobile hotspot.

Yes, you did read that correctly: a mobile hotsptot. The exact details of how it would work, for example how many computers could access the net via this method (really though, how many do you want to share that connection right now, anyway?) or whether or not carriers would be able to block the functionality, are not yet available.

But with Eclair expected to launch no later than next week at Google I/O, we won't have to wait long to get those answers. We will, however, probably have to wait a while to actually get the OS, unless you've rooted your phone, or have a Nexus One.
