Android is Open to Attacks According to a Survey From NQ Mobile - Page 2
Recent surveys indicate that the number of Android users will go up to 798 million by the end of this year, compared to around 300 million as of early in 2012. But, it is evident that mobile malware infections will be on the rise soon as it will overtake the popularity over PC’s to connect. The top three ways that malware was spreading in 2012, were through app repackaging, malicious URLs and "smishing."
Globally, the top 5 affected markets were China (26%), India (19%), Russia (18%), U.S and Saudi Arabia with 10% each. Out of all the malwares that came out in 2012, 28% focused on gaining profits from user data in terms of revenue whereas 7% of the malware was designed to “brick” a user’s cellphone i.e. simply make it to stop functioning.
