ASUS Adresses Android 4.0 Upgrade, Locked Bootloader and GPS Statement for Transformer Prime

ASUS just made an announcement through their facebook page regarding a couple of issues Transformer Prime consumers have been up in arms about (not really a big deal, but made out to be none the less), as well as ICS update plans. On January 12th 2012, ASUS is beginning to roll out an OTA (Over the air) Android 4.0 update to all Transformer Prime tablet devices. The update will take a few days to roll out to all devices so you'll want to make sure you keep checking your notifications area for an available update.*
To add to the news, ASUS also let their faithful Transformer Prime adopters know that the recent GPS issues brought forward by users are the result of possible interference from the steel body of the tablet, as well as other causes which are uncontrolled by ASUS such as location, weather, etc. As such, ASUS has stripped the GPS specification from its' details sheet, and reminds users that the Transformer Prime is NOT a professional grade GPS device.
ASUS made another issue more clear regarding the locked bootloader on the Transformer Prime, stating it was necessary to allow connection of DRM material by way of Google Video services. Due to user demand however, ASUS has announced they will soon provide a tool for unlocking the bootloader regardless, but warn that anyone who unlocks the bootloader will void their ASUS warranty, as well as loose the ability to use the Google Video service. Small price to pay for some people, as they'll likely just use Netflix and Android Market Movies anyway.
There you have it folks, two issues more or less resolved, and the great news of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich coming by January 12th, just in time for CES 2012!
