Search giant Google was supposedly holding a big Android event on Monday, October 29, 2012 in the Big Apple but it's reportedly been cancelled due to hurricane Sandy, likely to touchdown on the East Coast around the time of the event.

In the letter to potential attendees Google had said, "We are cancelling our Monday morning event in New York due to hurricane Sandy. We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more. Stay safe and dry, The Android Team."

This Google event was supposed to have been the launching point for Google's new sets of Android-powered devices, including LG's Nexus 4, Nexus 7's 32GB model, Android 4.2 OS, and of course, the still elusive and mysterious Samsung Nexus 10 tablet.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo just recently declared a state of emergency in all of New York, and the venue where Google had scheduled the event is now being used as an evacuation zone.

No word yet on when the Android event may be rescheduled, but for now it seems Mother Nature has other plans. Simply stated, Android fans will need to be patient and wait a little longer than expected for whatever surprises Google has for them.
