Google Nexus Tablet Expected in May 2012

The launch of the new iPad from Apple this last week has been all that people could talk about when it comes to tablets. But those who aren't willing to shell out $500+ are hoping for other alternatives from Google and Amazon once again in 2012. Last year, Amazon rocked the tablet world with the ultra cheap $199 US Kindle Fire. It was by far the most successful launch any Android tablet had performed or the year, which ended up taking a little bite out of Apple's iPad market shares after it's launch.
The Amazon Kindle Fire is by no means as robust and smooth as the iPad 2, but it is a 7inch Android tablet with enough specs to make it appeal to anyone who wants to spend less on a tablet, without sacrificing build quality. Google is clearly aware of how well the Amazon Kindle Fire went over publicly since it's using their Android Operating System, even though it's been skinned so hard it might remind you of a HollyWood makeover TV series
The "Nexus" brand has been Google's naming for their mobile devices, and despite Samsung's sales of their Galaxy family of devices, the Nexus brand has seen success as well. Why not use the "nexus" brand strength, and launch a Nexus tablet? This is the next plan for Google, who has been in serious talks with ASUS in building the actual tablet.
A source close to the development of the said Google Nexus tablet, states that Google is after a $149 - $199 price point for consumers. this puts it at half the cost of an iPad, even the iPad 2, as well as in a parallel price path with the Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet and Amazon Kindle Fire, which have all proven worthy competitors. To keep costs down however, you likely won't see a quad-core processor within, but it will be in 7inch form. The tablet is expected to make it's first appearance at the next CTIA event in New Orleans from May 8th - 10th 2012. Hopefully, we get the full scoop from Google then.
