The Organizer

Much like you saw in Adobe Premiere Elements 10, the Organizer module has seen a few improvements that make it easier to find and share specific images.  From the Organizer you can tag, search, rate and filter your collection.  You can also make some edits from here as well like fixing red-eye and cropping photos all without having to open up the actual editor.

The Organizer also added a number of new features to help you locate related images.  Visual Similarity Search, grabs similar looking pictures by examining both shapes and colors, and the Duplicate Photo Search is similar but different as it is geared toward allowing you to delete similar photos or stack them together in the Organizer.  Both can help you sort through your collection a lot quicker and makes finding certain photos very easy.

You can also use People Recognition, which has been around for a few releases now, this feature automatically recognizes faces and lets you tag the people in them, making it easier to find your photos of certain people.  While setting this up is a bit of a chore once it is done you will thank yourself as you won’t have to go through it again and again.  You also get a new feature called Facebook friends-list import.  This brings in the names of your likely photo subjects and automatically tags them on Facebook when you upload their pictures.  Even though you download your Facebook friends list you will still need to match them up.

Besides the People Recognition you also get a new Object Search.  Working much like People Recognition, Object Search lets you highlight any object in a photo and then search for it in all your other photos.  You can use this feature to find all the photos of your dog, or a certain landmark you visited, hell even a vehicle at a car show.  Now the accuracy of this feature is really hit or miss and you will be left scratching your head from time to time with its results.

The Results Are In

Now with Adobe releasing its tablet version of photo editing software, you can further take your photo editing and share it to your tablet.  Photoshop Elements 10 is a very versatile program.  Running a 32-bit program isn’t that big a deal most of the time but when you start loading up some big megapixel type photos your computer will start to slow down.
