After School Programs Are Picking up The Slack From Budget Slashing Schools
The volume of programs including after school programs that are being fazed out in the public school system is worrying primarily in the arts, technology, and sports fields. In Canada, a leading country in education, provincial governments have just recently released budget cutting in schools. For example, the Edmonton Catholic School Board has declared the elimination of hundreds of jobs and academic programming. The list goes on. Educating our children should be our main concern, yet education is not considered a top priority by our governments.
It's astonishing, the variety of subjects that are being gotten rid of from today's school curriculum. Many school boards have eliminated computers, for example, and count only on the classroom teacher to provide computer education. If the teacher is computer uneducated, however, the students will remain computer illiterate unless you consider being an authority at playing computer games as being computer smarts.
Often school programming and lessons are dated and no longer practical for today's new skills. Educators are presenting the same old lessons that were instructed decades previously. Our public education system just doesn't seem to meet cutting-edge specifications and are wasting beneficial resources with programs that are no longer beneficial.
The good news is that private after school programs are taking their niche and providing excellent programs that would meet and exceed Government standards. These after school programs are traditionally taught by specialists in their vocation, such as musicians instructing music, singers tutoring singing, artists teaching art and so on.
However, these marvelous after school programs and many others are mostly being provided by the private industry. There is a cost involved, but for the quality of education that these well-qualified programs create, they are well worth it. The thorough parent on a budget can choose an after school program that best suits the talents and interests of their child, and not have their child be subjected and presented with programs and lessons of which they have little or no concern.
After school programs are becoming increasingly trendy, and it's just a matter of determining which after school programs are being offered in your location. They're not hard to find. A good way to begin looking is by exploring the Internet. Just type into the your preferred search engine's search box the activity or program you wish to uncover and include the region such as the city or town where you live.
