Apple Launches the iPad 2

The iPad 2 was launched on Wednesday, March 2nd by Apple and surprisingly Steve Jobs was there.
The device really is beautiful. It is now 33% thinner and up to 15% lighter. It also comes in white if desired. The iPad2 comes with a Dual-Core A5 chip. It has 2 cameras and HD video. One camera is on the front and one is on the back. You can toggle between the two cameras while using FaceTime.
The iPad2 is 9.50 inches tall and 7.31 inches wide and weighs about 1.33-1.35 lbs (depending on if you go Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + 3G). Storage options are 16Gb, 32Gb or 64Gb. The battery life is still 10 hours and carriers are AT&T or Verizon. The Display is 9.7 inches diagonally with a 1024x768 resolution. The display is also fingerprint resistant.
The apps that are included are, FaceTime, PhotoBooth, Mail, Safari, iBooks, Videos, Photos, Find My iPad, iPod, iTunes, App Store, Maps, You Tube, Game Center, Notes, Calendar and Contacts.

My favorite part about the iPad2 launch is the new cover. It is called a “Smart Cover” and it is slick! The cover uses magnets to fit into place. The cover is thin and protects the screen. When you open the cover, the iPad2 wakes up automatically. When you close the cover, the iPad goes into sleep mode.
The really neat part is that the cover folds and transforms into an iPad stand so that you can prop up the device to watch movies, or surf and type or play games. The cover flips backwards like a magazine cover if you like to hold your iPad the traditional way and ff you want to use the camera on the back, the cover folds in half. The cover also comes in 10 different colors.
The iPad 2 will go on sale March 11 for $499.
The launch was almost overshadowed by the fact that Steve Jobs, who has been on medical leave for the past 6 weeks, launched the iPad2 at the event. The room welcomed the CEO with a standing ovation.
