Apple has not stated what changes it made to the iTunes policy for customers in Taiwan, or how it plans to handle requested refunds. It’s possible that iTunes customer support has simply been provided additional special handling instructions when it comes to Taiwan-based complaints.

I’m sure as news of this policy change spreads to countries not provided equal access to Taiwan’s ample seven-day return policy, iTunes support can expect a barrage of demands from the rest of us for a lengthier time period in order to dump a crappy app. Even an hour or two would suffice for most of us to figure out whether or not we got what we paid for.

Given a real possibility for abuse by less-than-scrupulous customers, perhaps it would have been smarter for Apple to have taken its cues from Google, and left Taiwan hanging while its citizens brought their iPhones and Android devices, along with pitchforks, to the government’s locked-down doors...
