Artificial Intelligence - Built by Grandma
A small group of volunteers within the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) thinks that artificial intelligence has been kept in the Geekdom clique for too long.
Still in its earliest stages, the group's concept put forth by designer David Fliesen and others seeks to leverage the 3D immersive environment of Linden Lab's Second Life to create an easy-to-use learning space for nascent AI creators. Fliesen believes that it's high time for AI to be placed within reach of ordinary computer users.

The effort is described on a LinkedIn group discussion which explains the project goals this way:
We want to take the mystery out of AI and bring it down to the everyday person's level so that this technology can be better understood and its potential more fully realized. Our goal with the AILC Project is to make Artificial Intelligence "Apple Easy" much like iPhone and other smart phone and web apps have done lately for other technologies — so that even Grandma is comfortable with using, and even programming, AI.
The group, only recently formed, is looking for volunteers with skills in any of the following areas:
- Architectural Design
- 3D Modeling
- Texturing
- Second Life (SL) Building
- Linden Scripting Language
- SL Particle effects
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) research
- AI integration into SL
