The Tech Industry is one of the most profitable industries out there, but what's even more attractive about this line of work is that entrepreneurs (when played right) can get from zero to millionaire in a very short period of time.

Today, the leading CEO in pay terms is Apple's very own Tim Cook. According to VentureBeat he just passed Oracle's CEO with $378 million. However, you do have to keep in mind most of it is locked away in stock options. His real cash value is $1.8 million.

Which brings us to the next question, even if you are really worth a 9 figure annual number, can it really count if that money is floating on air and can't be cashed in? Stock options are a great asset, however, if not handled carefully, it could end up being a mess.

Other Bay Area CEOs that lead the best-paid-list are Meg Whitman of HP with $16.5 million, John Daane of Altera got $29.6 million and many others.

If CEOs are earning this much with stock options included, how great is the rest of the staff doing? Perhaps several of other positions have better annual numbers than many other CEOs around the world even!

Remember, all the pretty perks that a start up (or turned into a great company afterwards) has come with their price tag. Having the funnest places to work at does mean that you need to invest in at-office-leisure-time.

In general, paychecks or no paychecks considered, the tech industry is one of the happiest places to work at, so here here for all the involved perks.
