Beautylish: The App
The beauty industry was given a high-tech face lift two years ago when the startup, Beautylish, was created. The website redefined the beauty industry, transforming cosmetics into a knowledge that could be shared by photos, videos, and reviews in a social experience.
The startup grew increasingly popular, and fast. A Beautylish app was in high demand for some time and finally, it was given to us in late May! Makeup nerds are still overwhelmed with excitement as the iOS app keeps beauty enthusiasts in the loop at all times.
The app is great--clean layout, easy to use, and informative. After the Beautylish update last week, reviews remain positive with the convenience factor being the most mentioned. Users love the fact that tips, tricks, and articles about their favorite products are in the palms of their hands.
I can get lost in this app for hours--definitely one of my top 5 DMV-line apps. The app provides mobile access to a surplus of beauty information, that being its strongest point. I most enjoy browsing the Talk tab, which lets users navigate through Beautylish's most discussed topics about hair, makeup, nails, and skincare.
While the Beautylish app acts as a major resource for beauty advice and general information, it lacks functionality and a purpose for networking. Each Beautylish user has a personal profile, which is visible in the app. However, there is no way to view other profiles, send follower requests, view comments, or comment/like reviews or articles, all of which is doable on the website itself.
The overall major bummer is that there is no way to upload photos or videos while in the app. I would love to snap of photo of a striking hairdo or a product that I have a question about and feed it to my Beautylish followers.
Let me upload photos and leave comments and I'd give the app all five stars! Otherwise, the Beautylish app is a great way to access the beauty world's most valued information to get inspired and to become beauty enthused.
