Big Brother Boxes Mandatory in Your Car
A bill set to make it's way through Congress titled: “Mandatory Event Data Recorders” will mandate big brother boxes placed in every new vehicle. If the bill becomes law, then cars manufactured in the United States will be required to have Big Brother Boxes similar to the recording devices that are standard on all aircraft.
Your new vehicle will be able to be tracked internally. The law says that you will be the only one who is legally permitted to access the vehicle, except for the exceptions. Of course, the exceptions are huge. For example, a court authorizes retrieval of the information in furtherance of a legal proceeding. This little exception would make it hard for a person to fight a traffic ticket for speeding, as the speed that your vehicle was traveling may be contained in the data on your Big Brother Box. In addition, in cases involving an auto accident, insurance companies could use this information to determine who was supposedly at fault for an accident involving speed, with a simple court order.
No worries though, the law isn't set to become official, if it passes until 2015. So you will have plenty of time to but a 2014 model, and be secure from any governmental intrusion.
