Data Dealers Indubitably Duping Us - Page 2
MAKING THE SWITCH
Granted, I'm talking a lot of crap right now. The drastic “stuck in the middle of nowhere” scenario is real, and a phone with legit service suddenly becomes necessary. But if you're feeling ballsy and belligerent right now, consider this.
- Download the Skype app: I got a Skype phone number for $30 for 12 months, plus unlimited U.S. and Canada calls for a lousy $2.99 per month! Voice plan: check!
- Texting: Options are plentiful. If you're an iOS guy or gal and so are your friends and family, iMessage and Facebook Messenger should cover you, as should Google Voice (the latter being available for Android and Windows Phone as well). Skype texting isn't free, so don't bother.
- Data: As prior mentioned, wi-fi has you covered. It seems like all types of businesses are offering it nowadays. We thank you all kindly and will at least buy a cup of coffee to express our gratitude.
Sounds good, right? Honestly, I have a hard time buying into my own “I’ll show them!” scheme. Maybe for a teen or a broke college kid this would be viable, but I really don’t want to wait to register my disdain for today’s rush hour or how bad the service at Wendy’s was at lunch. I suppose what’s more realistic is hopping aboard the pre-paid bus so I may live to tweet another day. Once prior mentioned ducks have aligned, I’ll see if I still have the grapes to leave my pimp.
