Did You Shop on Christmas Day?
Technology has had an undoubted influence on vast areas of our life. One amongst these is our festive shopping habits. When I was growing up the sales were called "January Sales" for a reason, as they always began with the new year.
With retailers suffering in recent years, sales have shifted, and now most retailers are offering a slew of bargains post Christmas.
Of course online retailers are open around the clock, and therefore many are beginning their sales period from Christmas day itself. It's enough to have enticed many of us online on Christmas to do shopping in record numbers.
Monitoring company Experian has released data showing that shopping on Christmas day rose 27% this year compared to last year. They monitored the traffic to the top 500 retail sites on December 25th. In total, more than 115 million visits were made to retail sites on Christmas day, and that's just in America.
Amazon was the prime target for online bargain hunters, with Walmart, Target, BestBuy and Macy's also proving popular.

The most popular products purchased on the day included tablet devices. Buying songs from iTunes was also popular, with traffic to the site up 193%.
