If there is one thing DirecTV does right, it's technology. They recently announced the addition of Pandora Radio to their long list of extras. And, yes, believe it or not, it's free (all you need is a Pandora account, which also is free, unless you upgrade to no-ads). However, before the recent addition of Pandora to DirecTV, they were slinging iPad apps, DVR setting mobile apps, and cool extras before it was, well, cool. Let's take a look at the top 5 technologies that sets DirecTV way above the competition.

1. Pandora Radio

Yes, I just talked about it, but I'm loving this partnership more than I love chocolate and peanut butter, so I'm talking about it again.

I love Pandora, and I love DirecTV. Put them together, and it's a match made in heaven. No extra fees, no hidden regulations. All you have to do is hit "Menu" on your remote, select "Extras", then select "Pandora". Voila! Sign in with your Pandora ID, and you are good to go. This just made cleaning the house on Sundays that much more fun.

2. The iPad DirecTV

I challenge someone to find a better iPad app for a television provider. Using DirecTV's iPad app, you can browse movies, TV shows, and a 14 days television guide, watch live TV, control your television, control your DVR, and more. You can find a list of available channels to watch live on the iPad app here. Hello to cooking WHILE watching the Food Network!

3. The DirecTV Mobile App

Again, DirecTV got it right. Their mobile app is out of this world. It has the functionality of their website, with the fluidity and ease of a mobile app. You can pay your bill, browse and order movies, browse and order live events (UFC, anyone?), view your channel line up, set your DVR, and that's only the beginning (I'm serious...just the beginning).
