Fastest Growing Online Jobs? Think Mobile

Freelancer.com, an outsourcing marketplace, has gathered data from about 4 million users and 2.3 million projects to release the list of 50 rapidly growing online jobs for the second quarter 2012. The data for the report came from 190,000 online jobs posted on the website.
According to the online firm, it is the “most comprehensive insight into online job trends”.
“We truly are at an inflexion point of the technology landscape”, saidFreelancer.com Chief Executive, Matt Barrie. “We’re seeing the changing of the guard across the technology industry when we examine our incredibly detailed online jobs data”.
According to the “FREELANCER FAST 50” list, the top five growing jobs are related to Word, Web Scraping, Objective C, User Interface / IA and Mobile Phones.
“Two clear trends are evident: firstly, user activity is moving to mobile devices and the trend won’t be reversing any time soon, as the other 5 billion people on this planet join the Internet, primarily through mobile. Secondly, the Internet is becoming more interactive, and the technologies that are winning and will continue to win are open standards like HTML5 and jQuery- to the detriment of the incumbents, proprietary technology providers like Adobe and Microsoft”, Barrie said.
Freelancer has reported that iPhone and iPad app related jobs grew even faster than the first quarter, leaving Android related jobs behind. New iPhone apps grew by 30% to 5,112 new jobs while Android 20% to 3,444 new jobs. iPad-related jobs grew from 19% in first quarter to 26% in the second quarter i.e. 2,398 jobs in the second quarter.
Internet marketing and SEO jobs went down by 5.6% to 13,848 jobs and 7.3% to 9,397 jobs, respectively.
