Future Police: May Stop Crime Before It Happens!

Fighting criminals and stopping crimes in a hi-tech environment like the movie Minority Report starring Tom Cruise may not be too impossible in the near future after all.
Imagine a scenario where you're just walking on the street and a police just suddenly showed up and apprehend a person who would've robbed you at knifepoint. Would've but hadn't. Yet.
A team of researchers from Santa Clara University, as reported by Singularity Hub, is developing a predictive policing software which takes crime data from the past to forecast crimes in the future.
The hi-tech software involves pinpointing areas on a city map that are most likely to hit by crime and what time of the day it is most likely to happen. The software is recalibrated every so often on a daily basis when new reports of crimes happen which are then added to its data. The new data collected from it makes it easier for law enforcements to deploy police officers in those suspect areas to curb possible crime that is happening in real-time.
The research team concluded that criminal activity might not be so random as we thought and that some crimes can be predicted by previous crimes committed depending on the "when and where" informations.
Bad guys and criminals, beware! Mission impossible is now possible and is now becoming a reality. Welcome to the future of law enforcement, people.
