Google I/O Developers Conference 2012 Highlights
The Google I/O Developers Conference 2012 had just concluded in San Francisco and the search giant, in that event, had given us some of their newest and latest technological innovations to date.
News of Google's highlights in the event include the announcement of Android 4.1 OS aka Jelly Bean, Nexus 7 tablet, Nexus Q streaming media device, Google Drive, Google Map and Earth app, mobile version of Google Chrome for both iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones and tablets, and of course, the now famous Google Glass, where Google made an actual live demo of its capabilities via a "high-flying" act in the sky. The first Google Glass called "Explorer Edition" was also introduced in the event and was made available on a pre-order basis to all developer attendees with a $1,500 price tag a piece.
Google also made mention of advertising its own Google+ social network in the event where Google added a new feature called Google+ Events. Google also made it possible this year to bring an app to iOS and Android devices. The company also announced a new feature in Google Drive called "Optical Character Referencing" and Offline file editing, as well as an iOS version of Google Drive. Also, the compass mode of the Google Map gets a minor enhancement that utilizes the device's gyroscope to give users a visual tour of a place just by tilting the device.
The new Jelly Bean OS will be available as a free over-the-air download early this month for Samsung Nexus S, Motorola Xoom tablet and Samsung Galaxy Nexus, while the new Nexus 7 tablet and the new Nexus Q media device are now both available on a pre-order basis in Google Play store and will ship later this month, according to Google.
All the developers who attended the Google I/O Developers Conference 2012 was treated big time by Google and they all went home with some great freebies, including each getting a free Nexus 7 tablet, a free Nexus Q media player and a free Nexus phone.
