Google announces Google Wallet, an application using your cell phone like a credit or debit card on the Mastercard's PayPass system, only available on the Android Smartphones using technology PayPal's lawsuit says belongs to them, and delivered to Google by PayPal  former executives.

Osama Bedier  worked for PayPal until January of 2011; Stephanie Tilenius is accused of doing some heavy wooing via Facebook, encouraging Osama to leave PayPal/eBay. Evidently they made him an offer he could not refuse,  before leaving the office, Bedier is accused of  transferring information to an Internet storage locker called DropBox.  Bedier was in the Google / PayPal partnership negotiations as a VP at PayPal while interviewing for his new job at Google. PayPal accuses him of duplicitous activity and using company data for Google sales calls.  Google was so hot for Bedier that the new CEO Larry Page got involved, during this time Tilenius is said to be wooing Bedier via Facebook as well. Is there a Facebook app for wooing?

Rumours are flying about a signed agreement abandoned in a copier, signed during the two year negotiations, but when Page took over for Schmidt he kiboshed the deal once Bedier was confirmed, and the agreement was carefully forgotten.

Bedier, also being tapped for wooing other employees away from PayPal after his departure and the use of PayPal data for Google sales calls.

PayPal’s lawsuit cites theft of trade secrets, violation of contracts, punitive damages and don’t forget the royalties coming from the Google Wallet. You have to have something to put in the wallet.

Google's contention is they were going to build their own mobile financial solution but failed reaching a resolution in talks with PayPal and hired some great talent to run it, which they did starting with Tilenius and Bedier, others followed. Their stand is technology is built by individuals using what they know to seek better job opportunities, a principle that is recognized and supported by California and public policy.
