Google lits a candle topay tribute to Delhi Gang Rape Victim

Google paid it's tribute to the Delhi rape victim in a unique way. On the New Year's Eve Google India's Homepage showed a candle below the search box. When the mouse pointer is moved to the Candle a label appears which reads "In Memory of the Delhi Brave-heart" appears.

The candle tribute is much different from the Google Doodle in which the search engine's logo is changed highlight various events.

Few weeks back the same candle was used to pay tribute to the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newton, Connecticut on 14th of this month.

Yesterday the body of the victim arrived in India at Morning 3:30am. An Air India chartered plane flew the body from Singapore to India. Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi were present at the airport when the body arrived.

The funeral ceremony was carried out in a high secrecy as per the victim's family wish to not reveal their identity. The funereal ceremony reached the crematorium at about 6:30am in morning and waited for the sun to rise up in the sky. The body was cremated at about 7:30am in presence of the girl's relatives, Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit as well as some other Government officials.

The protests still continue all over the city. The protestors requested the people to observe a Bandh (which means "closed", one form of a protest) on January 3 and observe the day as "Black Day."
