Google's New Easter Egg? Zergs! Let the Search War Begin!
Office productivity worldwide is about to take a nosedive, thanks to the folks at Google, who are renown for bringing a plentitude of hidden joys to people searching for something serious online.
If you spent some time in game playing on your computer in the last 15 years, you've likely heard of (or took your turn at playing) StarCraft, one of the more popular PC-based offerings. And perhaps you remember the Zerg, an alien race of insectoids who flew about and created havoc in the StarCraft universe.
With today's new Easter Egg, Google has brought the Zerg to their simple search page, for some good old-fashioned, click-filled fun. Simply visit the Google main search page and type in the term zerg rush then click Search to enable an onrush of rapid-flying letter o's devouring pieces of your results.
Let the world-saving begin! Simply move your mouse over the o's and click away at them, lowering the power level as seen on the colored bars hovering overhead. Drop their power low enough, and they blow up, while all of their speedy, relentless friends continue munching away at the screen. If your search results' power levels get too low, they blow up. If too many results disappear at the Zerg's hands, they form the letters GG (meaning "good game"). Then you can refresh and start the fun all over again...
Devilishly simply, simply addictive fun is in store today. Go ahead, look behind your shoulder for the boss, then visit Google to unleash the Zergs onto your computer screen. I dare you.
