LowestMed to Launch A Much Needed Prescription Drug Comparison App

LowestMed is to launch the first mobile app that shows the consumer the current prices of prescriptions drugs on January 24th. Android phone and iPhone consumers can download and utilize the free LowestMed app with the discount drug card. With this new app shoppers can compare different discount pharmacy costs from the convenience of their iPhone or Android phone. This means no more hopping from store to store or spending hours on the internet browsing from website to website submitting insurance information and comparing prices to make sure you get the best value. Until recently this was the only way that a price comparison could be done.
This app is especially important in these economic times. It is difficult and costly enough when you, a family member or loved one gets sick with the inevitable doctor bills; but add to that the rising cost of prescription drugs, and a person can wind up in a financial bind. A little known fact is that the price of prescription drugs varies from pharmacy to pharmacy. You can take the exact same antibiotic prescription to a grocery store and receive it for free. You can take the prescription to participating stores with the $4 prescription program and pay $4. Then, you can take the exact same prescription to the drugstore across the street and pay considerably more sometimes in the hundreds. This is a bonus for those who do not have medical prescription coverage or a high cost deductible.
On January 24, when the LowestMed app is released it will be the only service that will include price comparisons for the $4 generics. Just by checking this app people can save literally hundreds of dollars. Can you imagine how much this will help our economy by keeping the money in the consumers pockets by simple smart shopping.
