Microsoft Announces Plan To Retire Windows XP
Microsoft unveils plan to retire Windows XP in two years and the countdown has already started. Surprised?
According to Microsoft blog, the company will stop all support and security updates for Windows XP, as well as its business productivity suite Office 2003.
A Microsoft representative said that while Windows XP was a great software for them since its launch, "the technology environment has shifted."
Microsoft also urges its users to update their computer's operating system (OS) to Windows 7.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the company also recommends not to wait for the next version of Windows OS, saying getting Windows 7 now can "gain substantial results while laying the foundation for Microsoft's next-generation operating system."
To note, Windows XP is Microsoft's longest running OS in the company's history thus far.
Both Microsoft XP and Office 2003 will cease operation on April 8, 2014.
