Microsoft Pours Weed Killer On Its Vine

I just received an email from Microsoft saying:

"Despite positive feedback from customers like you over the course of Vine's private beta, Microsoft has made the decision to discontinue Microsoft Vine effective October 11, 2010. After this date, you will no longer be able to access Microsoft Vine. We suggest that you record any contact information currently stored in Vine, prior to October 11th"

In fact, I had forgotten all about Vine. And I am sure there are lots of you who would have forgotten as well. When Microsoft realized how Twitter could be useful in emergencies, they decided to make something similar.

But just for emergencies.

It was a location aware social networking application. And I might go on to add it was just an early beta version of an app which was limited release, not for the public, not really a web app.
